Good Energy details their renewable energy supply

Following conversations with Matched, Good Energy has shared data-backed information about their renewable energy supply.

We've been in discussion with Good Energy for the past six months and are pleased to see them leading by example with today's announcement, in which they report that:

  • They purchase enough renewable power to match 100% of their customers' demand
  • 90% of their supply is time-matched to customer demand
  • 40% of their renewable power comes from new generators

Greater transparency in renewable energy supply is essential for consumers who are navigating an increasing array of renewable energy choices. Disclosures like these help customers understand where their power comes from and how it's sourced.

Matched is using public data to verify the disclosure from Good Energy, as part of our ongoing efforts to improve transparency. Our methodology and findings are currently under review with suppliers and industry experts and will be published in the spring.

We're also in conversation with other suppliers, several of whom are preparing to make their own disclosures. And, alongside suppliers, consumer organisations, and policymakers, we are exploring which metrics provide the most value to consumers.

Reporting standards for renewable energy haven't kept pace with the rapid growth of renewables on the grid. We commend Good Energy for taking this step towards greater transparency in the sector 👏.
