Making clean energy visible

We use public data to scrutinise renewable energy claims and show what you're really getting—hour by hour, all year.

Our Mission

Verifiable ratings of renewable energy supply

Many energy suppliers market their electricity as renewable while continuing to buy fossil-fuelled power—a practice enabled by outdated regulations. To resolve this confusion, we will shortly be publishing the Matched Clean Power Index, a verifiable rating of the renewable electricity households and businesses are actually receiving—hour by hour, all year.

Why Matched?

100% renewable is not 100% renewable

Many British households choose an electricity tariff that is '100% renewable'—often paying a little extra for the promise of cleaner power. But what does this label actually mean in practice? It suggests that all the electricity you use comes directly from renewables like wind or solar. However, the reality of how the grid works is more complex.
